Listen up!
If you spend long enough with yourself, you’ll begin to realise how little you know about your own motivations.
You might find yourself doing, thinking or saying things that surprise you. You might find yourself thinking, “Wow, I wonder what I’ll do next?”
Because sometimes, we really don’t know ourselves.
Now, this isn’t something to be ashamed or embarrassed about, because we don’t really know anybody.
Your parents are the only people who you’ve known your entire life — and yet they had an entirely different life before you, and you’ll never really know what happened to them.
After my grandmother died, I began reading her journals and I felt like it was our first introduction. It’s a strange feeling to have just met someone who you’ve known for 30 years already.
You are the only person on earth who you’ll ever have the opportunity to know completely. But the knowing isn’t innate.
You have to develop a relationship with yourself by asking difficult the questions.
